Austrian Institute for International Affairs (OIIP)

Aims

The OIIP is an independent, non-university scientific research institute located in Vienna. It initiates communication processes that enhance awareness of international political systems and promotes the identity of Austria. It helps to define the position of Austria in the international community of states. In view of its ambivalent history and tradition, Austria is called upon to play an active role in developing European culture that affirms the existing variety and sustains common European values. OIIP develops realistic approaches to international problems and conflicts.

Activities

The OIIP runs research programs in the following areas: European Union, South-East Europe, Russia, Middle East, Comprehensive Security and International Development Policy. In addition to this the Institute runs symposium and conferences on a wide range of international issues with world-renowned guest speakers.

Publications and other Resources

All papers and reports are available to order from the website at a cost. This includes the Luxembourg Papers Series and the OIIP's Political Yearbook. The website is available in Dutch and English.
