Aims
The CDI is a US based independent think-tank
conducting security-related research. The Board of Directors and staff include
retired military officers, former U.S. government officials, and civilians
expert in a wide range of domestic and international security, defense and
military arenas.
Activities
Through a variety of publications and services,
CDI provides information and analyses to policy-makers around the globe -
including the U.S. Congress, government, international agencies, the media and
the public. On television, radio, the Internet, and in print, CDI serves as an
authoritative, impartial monitor of global security issues, while continuing to
meet the increasing worldwide demand for information and independent ideas. The
CDI is currently running research and advocacy programs in the areas of:
conventional arms issues, defence and foreign policies, international
peacekeeping, military forces, strategy and spending, nuclear, chemical and
biological weapons issues and regional country affairs as well as a large range
of special projects (missile defence, terrorism etc.).
Publications and other Resources
Each program area on the website (of which there
are over 40) features reports (in PDF format) and issue briefs (in HTML format)
to download at no cost. CDI press releases are also available in HTML format.
The website also features an international news service and links to a wide
range of security related newsletters.
