Canadian Defence and Foreign Affairs Institute (CDFAI)

Aims

The Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute is a charitable, independent, non-partisan, research institute with an emphasis on Canadian foreign policy, defence policy, and national security. The CDFAI aims to provide Canadians with factual and comprehensive policy analysis to promote their understanding of Canada's foreign policy and the state of Canada's military preparedness and national security by developing and sponsoring authoritative research and education programs.

Activities

The CDFAI contributes to the public discussion of government policy in the areas of foreign affairs and national security as well as institutional preparedness to support current policies, supports the development of Canadian expertise by funding research as well as professional and student conferences in relevant areas, establishes linkages with international organisations, government and the private sector and provides opportunities for the exchange of national and international study. The CDFAI also administers prizes and awards such as the Ross Munro Media Award.

The website contains a large amount of current and past reports, articles and papers available in PDF format, in English, at no cost and a very large and well organised links section (divided into Canadian government, US government, international, institutions, academic centres, and defence foundations with a small summary of each website).
