Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs
http://www.cceia.org
Aims
The Carnegie Council is an independent, nonprofit
educational institution with no formal ties to any religious group or
government-affiliated organization involved in research and education in ethics
and international policy. It aims to explore the ethical dilemmas posed by
issues such as deadly conflict, human rights violations, environmental
protection, global economic disparities, and the politics of reconciliation.
Activities
The institution-headquartered in New York but
with an increasingly broad international reach-provides educational experiences
in which participants from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to share
their ideas and learn from one another. It uses Council publications, the
broadcast media, and the Internet to extend its learning community to those
outside of New York who share its research aims. The council serves educators,
government officials, members of the diplomatic community, journalists, NGO
representatives, business executives, and concerned individuals. The council's
programs are divided into: Human Rights, Armed Conflict, Reconciliation, Global
Justice, Environment and International Ethics.
Publications and other Resources
The website features the Council's bi-yearly
Human Rights Dialogue (in PDF format), selections from the Council's Morgenthau
Lectures (in HTML format), Louis Nizer Lectures on Public Policy (in PDF format)
and Public Philosophy Monographs (in PDF format) to download at no cost. In
addition to this, each of the six program areas features downloadable articles
and teaching tools relevant to the particular topic.
