African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD)
http://www.accord.org.za
Aims
ACCORD is an international civil-society
organisation working throughout Africa to bring appropriate African solutions to
the challenges posed by conflict on our continent.
Activities
ACCORD provides training nationally and
internationally, in urban and rural areas and has included decision-makers of
the state and leaders of communities. This training has been collaborative,
involving work with United Nation Agencies such as UNIFEM and on behalf on the
Organisation of African Unity (OAU). ACCORD also has a Research Unit with a
permanent staff supported by up to five African and international interns.
Ongoing monitoring of all conflict situations across Africa is undertaken on a
daily basis to generate ACCORD's Conflict Watch and Renaissance Barometer
reports. In depth situation reports are also complied in response to the
requirements of ACCORD's directorate. ACCORD also runs a number of "special
projects" that are smaller in scale and duration.
Publications and other Resources
ACCORD publishes the Conflict Trends magazine and
the African Journal on Conflict Resolution. All articles from both publications
are available as free downloads in PDF format.
