Africa-America Institute (AAI)

http://www.aaionline.org

Aims

The AAI is a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, non-profit organization, with offices in New York and Washington, D.C., and a presence in over 50 African countries that aims to promote enlightened engagement between Africa and America through education, training and dialogue.

Activities

AAI administers short and long-term graduate education and professional training programs that have produced nearly 20,000 AAI alumni, most of whom live and work on the continent. Through study tours and exchange programs, the AAI facilitates interactions among Africans and Americans representing various fields on issues of mutual concern. The AAI also conducts informational programs that seek to shape and inform the debate over U.S. policy toward Africa in ways that highlight African perspectives and promote American engagement.

Publications and other Resources

The AAI publishes a free bi-annual report, a quarterly online newsletter and regular summaries of conference and symposia online (some of which is in PDF and some of which is in HTML formats).
